Stuck on a scramble? Type the letters and get the unjumbled word instantly — plus every shorter word hiding in the letters, which is where two-word puzzle answers live. Solved against the 172k-word public-domain ENABLE list, on your device.
How to unjumble
- Type the scrambled letters as printed (NULCH, RAPKE, DOOGY…).
- The Unjumbled row shows every word using all the letters — for real puzzle scrambles, that’s usually exactly one.
- For the final answer, enter the circled letters as one string and check the shorter-word groups for multi-word puns (the FAQ has the technique).
Why scrambles feel hard (and how solvers don’t)
Human reading leans on letter ORDER — scramble it and the pattern-matching machinery stalls, which is the whole trick of the puzzle. A solver ignores order entirely: it sorts the letters and compares against pre-sorted dictionary words, so NULCH and LUNCH are the same object. That’s also the human speed technique — puzzle veterans alphabetize the scramble in their head (CHLNU) and the answer often surfaces unbidden. Vowel placement is the other classic lever: five letters with one vowel put that vowel in slot two or four far more often than not.
Beyond the daily Jumble
The same engine answers “what words can these letters make?” generally — for that framing, with full anagram culture and the alphagram trick, see the anagram solver. Word-rack games want the shorter-word groups this page already shows; type your rack and read down the lengths.
Private by design
The dictionary downloads once to your browser (~450KB compressed) and every solve runs in a local background thread. Your puzzle letters are never sent anywhere.
