Convert Celsius to Fahrenheit — and back — with the exact formula, not an approximation. Loads with °C → °F preselected; the formula line under the result shows the math it used.
The formula
°F = °C × 9⁄5 + 32 · °C = (°F − 32) × 5⁄9. Temperature is the one everyday category where conversion isn’t a single multiplication: the scales start at different zeros and use different degree sizes. That’s why this page shows a formula where the linear pairs show a “multiply by” factor.
Anchor points worth memorizing
| °C | °F | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| −40 | −40 | The scales agree |
| 0 | 32 | Water freezes |
| 10 | 50 | Cool day |
| 20 | 68 | Room temperature |
| 30 | 86 | Hot day |
| 37 | 98.6 | Body temperature |
| 100 | 212 | Water boils (sea level) |
| 180 | 356 | Moderate oven (~350°F) |
Weather, fever, ovens
Those three cover nearly every real lookup. Weather: the double-plus-30 trick in the FAQ is fine here. Fever: it is not — 37.5 °C vs 38 °C is the difference between “monitor” and “medicate,” so use the exact 100.4 °F threshold. Ovens: recipes round (180 °C ↔ 350 °F); your oven’s thermostat is the bigger error source. Kelvin — for science homework — is also in the temperature category of the unit converter: same degree size as Celsius, offset by 273.15.
