Convert feet to meters — and back — using the exact definition (1 ft = 0.3048 m). Loads with ft → m preselected. (Converting square feet? See the FAQ — that needs the squared factor, in the Area category.)
The formula
meters = feet × 0.3048 · feet = meters × 3.2808399. Mental shortcut: knock 2% off a third of the feet — 100 ft → 33.3 − 0.7 ≈ 30.5 m (true 30.48).

Listings, fences, fields, flight levels
Property: US and UK listings quote room sizes in feet (“12 by 14” is 3.66 × 4.27 m) — remember floor areas need the squared factor. Outdoors: a 6 ft privacy fence is 1.83 m, a 100 ft garden hose is 30.5 m. Sport: a football (soccer) pitch is 105 × 68 m = 344 × 223 ft; an NFL field’s 100 yards of playing field is 91.44 m. Aviation keeps feet alive globally — see the FAQ. Going metric-first instead (a spec sheet in meters you need in feet)? The meters to feet converter starts in that direction.
