Scrabble word finder

Every word your tiles can play, scored with standard letter values and sorted highest first — blanks supported, searched locally on your device.

Up to 8 tiles; type ? for a blank (max two). Scores are raw tile values — board multipliers depend on placement.

Searched on your device — the dictionary downloads to your browser; your rack goes nowhere.

Maintained by ToolsNexus

Type your rack — blanks as ? — and get every word the tiles can play, scored with standard values and sorted highest first. Searches the 172k-word public-domain ENABLE list, entirely on your device.

How to find your best play

  1. Enter up to 8 tiles (7 is a full rack; the extra covers a hooked letter already on the board).
  2. Use ? for blanks — max two, like the real tile bag.
  3. Read down from the top: raw score first, longer words first within a score.
  4. Check the FAQ’s strategy note before auto-playing the top result — points now aren’t always points net.

How scoring works here

Each word’s score sums its tile values — with letters covered by a blank scoring zero, exactly as on the board. What’s deliberately not included: premium squares. A 22-point QUIZ becomes 66 on a triple-word square and this tool can’t know where you’ll place it, so it reports the honest baseline instead of a fantasy number. The (1?) marker flags words that spend a blank — usually worth saving unless the play is big.

Rack-management crash course

Keep S tiles and blanks for bingos and hooks; dump duplicate high-value consonants early; hold a vowel-consonant balance near 3–4. The two-letter words (QI, ZA, XU, JO) are the highest points-per-tile plays in the game and the fastest thing to learn from the results list — type any rack with a Q or Z and watch. For plain “what words do these letters make” without scoring, the anagram solver groups by length instead.

Private by design

The dictionary downloads once to your browser (~450KB compressed); your rack is searched in a local background thread and never transmitted.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enter my rack?
Type your tiles as letters — order does not matter — and a question mark for each blank tile (a set has two). QU?Z finds words using Q, U, Z, and any letter the blank becomes. Results appear as you type, highest raw score first.
What do the scores mean?
Standard English tile values summed per word: A/E/I/O/U/L/N/S/T/R = 1, D/G = 2, B/C/M/P = 3, F/H/V/W/Y = 4, K = 5, J/X = 8, Q/Z = 10. Blanks score zero — a "(1?)" marker shows a word spends a blank. Board multipliers (double/triple letter and word squares) depend on placement, so they are honestly excluded.
Which dictionary is this — TWL or SOWPODS?
Neither, exactly: it searches ENABLE, the public-domain list both tournament dictionaries grew around. For living-room play the differences are invisible; for club play, know that a handful of tournament-legal words (and some two-letter words) differ between official lists.
Should I always play the highest-scoring word?
Not blindly. The top raw score can waste an S or a blank worth more later, open a triple-word lane for your opponent, or dump your only vowels. The list is your option menu — rack management and board position are the actual game.
Why do blanks matter so much?
A blank scores zero but unlocks bingos — playing all seven tiles for the +50 bonus. Strong players hold blanks until they enable a seven-tile play; the finder shows longer words first within a score so those opportunities stand out.
