Convert to a standard paper size, or scale by percentage

Files never leave your browser — all processing happens on your device.

Convert every page of a PDF to a standard paper size — A4, US Letter, Legal, A5, A3, or Tabloid — or scale the whole document by a percentage. Content is scaled proportionally and centered, landscape pages keep their orientation, and the file never leaves your browser.

How to resize PDF pages

  1. Drop your PDF — the pages appear as preview thumbnails.
  2. Pick a target paper size (or switch to Percentage and choose a scale).
  3. Click resize and download — every page comes out at exactly the chosen size.

The Letter ⇄ A4 problem

The US prints on Letter (8.5 × 11 in); nearly everyone else prints on A4 (210 × 297 mm). They are close but not equal — A4 is slightly narrower and taller — so a document formatted for one misbehaves on the other: cut-off edges, or the printer driver silently shrinking and shifting things. Converting the file itself removes the guesswork: this tool scales each page’s content uniformly to fit the target sheet, centers it, and sets the page to exactly the standard dimensions. What you preview is what prints.

When percent mode is the right tool

Percentage scaling changes the physical page size while keeping proportions — useful for turning an A4 document into an A5 booklet page (71%), making a large-format plan manageable, or doubling a small page for annotation space. Because scaling is uniform, text and images stay undistorted at any factor between 25% and 200%.

Details worth knowing

Mixed documents are fine: each page is fitted and centered independently, and with auto-orientation on, wide pages get the landscape version of your target size. Aspect-ratio differences become small even margins, never stretching. Annotations scale along with the page. If what you actually want is to cut away margins rather than change the sheet size, that’s the crop tool; to rotate pages before resizing, use rotate PDF; and separate documents can be combined first with merge PDF so everything comes out on one consistent paper size.

Private by design

Everything runs locally in your browser — reading, scaling, saving. No upload, no server-side copy, no size limits beyond your device’s memory.

Frequently asked questions

Will the content be stretched or distorted?
No. Content is scaled uniformly (the same factor in both directions) to fit the new page, then centered. Converting between sizes with different proportions — like US Letter to A4 — leaves slim, even margins rather than stretching anything.
What happens to landscape pages when I pick A4?
With "Keep landscape pages landscape" on (the default), wide pages get a landscape A4 target and portrait pages a portrait one, so nothing is turned sideways or shrunk unnecessarily.
Does this reduce the file size?
Not meaningfully — it changes the page dimensions, not the compression of images inside. Percent mode at 50% makes pages physically smaller but the embedded content data stays the same size.
Why would I convert Letter to A4 (or the reverse)?
Printing. A US Letter document sent to an A4 printer (or vice versa) either gets cut off or awkwardly auto-shrunk by the driver. Converting the file itself gives you clean, predictable output — common when exchanging documents between the US and everywhere else.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The resizing happens in your browser — your document never touches a server.
